Dhampus village is a beautiful and traditional Gurung village in Nepal, located in the Kaski district, within the Annapurna Himalayas. It is a popular destination for hikers and trekkers, who can enjoy the stunning views of the mountains, valleys, and rice fields. Dhampus village is also a gateway to the Annapurna conservation area and the Annapurna base camp trek. Dhampus Village Hiking is a great option for those who are short on time or are looking for a quick and easy trek to catch some of the best views in Nepal. The trek is one of the shortest around Pokhara Valley which gives you an opportunity to not only explore the wonders and raw beauty of Nepal but also offers you the opportunity to discover the culture and lifestyle of the ethnic Gurung community in the small village of Dhamps.

Things you can do in Dhampus village

  • Hike from Phedi or Kande, two nearby towns that offer different routes to reach Dhampus. The hike from Phedi is about 2 km uphill, while the hike from Kande is about 6 km, passing through the Australian camp.
  • Watch the sunrise and sunset over the Himalayan peaks, especially Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), which glows in different shades of yellow and orange.
  • Experience the ethnic Gurung culture and typical mountain life, which are relatively unaffected by the Western culture. You can interact with the friendly locals, taste their delicious food, and admire their old architecture.
